LEP Holder
I'm LEP holder and have account with Standard bank. I received sms as usually to go FICA my account. I went today only to be told that since my permit has expired even though the minister of Home Affairs says they are still valid till May 2027 I can't be helped. They needed a receipt to show that I have app**** for a new permit. I would like some clarity regarding this issue so I can go back and close my account if I won't be assisted as long as I don't have a receipt. My intentions are not to apply for a permit because this one I have is still valid till May 2027 as the minister has said.

While the Immigration Advisory Board has granted an extension for LEP permits, we are still required to obtain the VFS receipt as confirmation that you have personally submitted your application. The extension applies generally to all LEP holders, but the receipt serves as proof that your individual application is in process and that you are legally covered under the extension.
As a regulated financial institution, we must keep this documentation on record to remain compliant with FICA and immigration laws. Once you provide the receipt, we will be able to proceed with updating your profile.
