LEAVING STANDARD BANK
I am moving all accounts from Standard Bank. Last week Sunday my card was ****** at a restaurant in Douglasdale, Johannesburg. I presume that the perpetrator is one of the staff members as the person had access to my pin (easy for restaurant staff to observe). I was only visiting Johannesburg for that weekend and I am from Port Elizabeth. I only realised that my card was ****** when two withdrawals were made in quick succession on the Tuesday afternoon. I immediately called the bank and only realised that my card was not in my wallet when the call centre agent requested the card number. It is a debit card. My card was cancelled and a ***** case was reported to their ***** division. On Friday I got a call from their ***** division. I am offended by the agent's insinuations that I may have been involved in this and that I may have given my card to a friend or family member to withdraw the money. This is the reason they will not reimburse. When the withdrawals were made in Randburg, I was in Port Elizabeth. In fact, I had deposited some money at an ATM that very day, in Port Elizabeth. There is clearly a breach of trust between the bank as the service provider and I as the customer.
