Lack of sense of urgency by Standard Bank

"I asked Standard Bank to extend my bond term from 20 to 30 years after I had experienced financial difficulties. I submitted my salary slip, bank statements, income and expenditure, municipal bill and a motivation letter.

I asked them how long would it take to get feed back and was advised it will take 3 weeks. Is this time frame a reasonable turnaround time for Standard Bank while in the meantime they have issued summons and that process is not going to be halted.

Here is my concern though, they increased my bond repayment for the past 3 months from R4 900 to R8 500.00 without my consent. When I called no one could explain how and why it was done and it was reduced back to R4 900.00

When they say speak to your bank should you hit a snag in order to get assistance in time before the situation gets out of hand, is this what they mean? Make your situation worse than it already is?

Standard Bank please tell me what will you be doing for 3 weeks when all the documents you requested are in front of you? Are you buying time so that you can repossess my property? Are you acting in good faith by pushing me into the corner? I know if I get an extension of the bond repayment I should be able to meet my commitments.

By the way I said to your consultants I would consider(Easy Sell) you selling my property option as a last resort and am wondering if you comeback to me in 3 weeks and you are unable to extend the bond term we must look at selling the property and before you could do that I must still submit the additional documents which probably will take another 3 weeks.

Where is the help that is so desperately needed after having paid my bond for so long? Are you even interested in me not losing my property? After being with you for over 30 years. I have paid all the interest and all I am left with is the capital. This is the house I raised my kids in and if I were to lose it I can never get another bond due to my advance age."

Hi everyone this is the situation my mom is currently facing with standard bank and we are at a lose at this point. Anyone who can assist or guide us in this situation your help will be highly appreciated. Please contact her on ***
