Lack of confidentiality and information.

I recently got dismissed from the bank, now being on the job market again. When my potential employer make a reference check ,, all that he got is the amount that I owe them that was disclosed to him without my knowledge and without me knowing about that amount of R36 000. I only came to reliaze from the potential employer. Do I not have right to know if I owe the bank according to FAIS and FICA. I am a client of the bank they have my contacts but I was not contacted by anyone from SBFC my confidential details were disclosed to a 3rd party without my knowledge and without me knowing about that amount. To my suprise how do they send any financial info of their client without any consent. A head of legal SBFC does he not know what a consent form is before he gives any information out, especially to another individual broker . Do I not have the right to privacy and the right to information about any financial product or debt I have with them. Do I get humiliated like this,?
