Is Standard bank willing to retain their customers or setting them up for financial failure?

30 April 2020 I submitted my application.

Standard Bank gave no explanation as to why my further loan was declined, even after I asked for the credit managers contact details. Now that’s very poor customer service. I app**** for a further loan on my property on the 30th April 2020 through Sipho Molapo. Filled in all supporting documents and set the reason for the loan as renovations because I would like to pay off my existing loans which I incurred to renovate my property and thus increased the value by an additional two cottages and renovations in the main house. Thus my property has value. I stated this as well as moving my salary to Standard bank and that I rented the main house last year at R6000 and would proceed after lockdown. I have tenants from 1 June 2020 now. I included that the Standard Bank can keep the money in a trust account, and after approval, pay the monies directly to each loan to clear the loans. I was asked to complete that income and expenditure form and exclude instalments for the credits you going to settle which I did, showing that there will be more then enough money to pay my home loan. I inquiring a week later and was advised: Please note I got a response from the credit manager and we tried both home loan and loan consolidation options but unfortunately it was both declined due to affordability not being evident even after that new income and expenditure form it still declines. Well Standard bank, then help me understand and advise me how to correct so that I can get the loan approved as there is value in my property as well as enough funds available to repay the monthly instalments. Is Standard bank willing to retain their customers or setting them up for financial failure?

Dear Whitney

Thank you most kindly for your assistance and being proactive in this matter of mine. A debt Consultant rang me and I have received documents to complete as submit.
Instead of the usual "we cannot help you" I received over the past weeks, you have gone the extra mile in rendering great customer service.

My request and application is not an unwise one, and this will benefit both the myself and the bank, and that is why I could not understand why every consultant would not take the time to understand it and grant my application.

Thank you, and will keep you posted Whitney.
Nathan

Dear Whitney Marope

I've completed all the Debt Consolidation documents and emailed to Mzwakhe Dlamini as well as the Debt Consolidation email address as per his instruction.

Thank you for your patience as it was much work to gather all the supporting documents during this covid lockdown period, and your assistance when I needed it is splendid.

Please follow-up as you've done so well before.
In much appreciation.
Nathan

Good day Whitney

I received an email from Lerato Zwane stating that she received my debt consolidation application and an Evaluator has been assisgned.

This process is exactly what I was looking for and Standard Bank is investing an interest in me as their client.

I thank you for your assistance.
