Is it worth it being a prestige client? Do I have to beg, plead and fight for help???
I recently app**** for vehicle finance in December. I went direct to my prestige banker and she got into contact the vehicle and asset finance department. I received a good deal, whoever the deal fall through as the seller decided not to sell...
So little later after searching for a similar vehicle. I found something, although different brand and year older but same amount and with half the mileage than the previous.
I filled in an enquiry online with the dealer, who called me the next morning. Advising the vehicle was available, put me through to the salesperson. Who requested that I try to get a pre approval so they can hold the vehicle for me. Unknowingly, once an application was sent through to standard bank vehicle and asset finance via a dealer portal that the my prestige banker or anyone other person from the vehicle and asset department can not try to assist me and I would be forced to follow through with a dealer application.
I was declined at application stage according to the finance guy at the dealership. This puzzled me, as what could have changed in less than two months from me getting approved for a R280 000 at 10.9% to now getting completely declined at the outset for a similar vehicle at the exact same price and exact same deal structure.
So i called the vehicle and asset department to explain to me what happened and how is this possible. I was advised to ask the finance person at the dealership, which I did but he advised me that standard bank is very unclear on their podium as to why. I then went to see my prestige banker and see if she can assist from her side.
She proceeded to email through my info to the vehicle and asset department to assist me. Their response the next day was that there is an existing dealer deal that was captured on the 6th of February 2019 by the dealer.
My response, how do I proceed with something that is declined and not moving anywhere. After a few emails back and forth between myself and the prestige banker. A few phone calls to the finance guy at the dealership. I was advised that the finance guy needs to make contact with the standard bank consultant he is dealing with. After pleading to make contact and find out why, he agreed because I wanted to know why it declined but it does not make any sense to me.
So it came back that now, that they got an approval. Shocking from decline to approved but decided to stick with a rate of 12.7%. I sent through the podium on my first application to the finance guy and asked him to forward it to the consultant he deals with to show her the rate I received less than a month ago from standard through the prestige department. I asked him to tell her that I want a rate concession in order to receive the same rate as previously.
Why can’t I get the same now??? Why couldn’t I sort out my finance directly through the prestige department like previously since it was declined through the dealer application ???
I app**** for the following:
11 December: 2017 Ford Ranger double cab xl for R280 000. Rate received @ 10.9% over 72months 08 February: 2016 Isuzu KB double X-Rider for R280 000. Rate received @ 12.7% assuming over 72months
As a prestige client should I really be running around and begging or pleading with people to try to assist me? Especially with people from my own bank. My portfolio can be looked into and a have many services than I’m using at standard bank.
This is disappointing, I moved every banking transaction to standard bank to avoid situations like this and to get the best deals. Clearly that’s not happening.
