Insurance ****

I have been with Standard Bank insurance for 22 years, in that 22 years I have only claimed once. On the 4th of September 2015 there was a massive storm and our house flooded and the roof and ceilings were damaged. On the 7th of September 2015 we reported the damages to Standard Bank insurance, they sent out an assessor and builder. The assessor and builder only estimated the damages to R10,000.00, which I did not except because I knew at the time the damages were much more. I therefore asked two different builders to give me a quote on the damages and their quotes came to an estimate of R22,000.00. I sent these quotes through to Standard Bank Insurance and queried Standard Bank's builders quote. After endless ******** emails and threats from Standard Bank, I have finally decide to settle for R 15,359.44. I have decided to rather take my money to another Insurance company, because I do not see it fit that I pay such a high premium every month for Insurance which do not cover damages, and if you claim they will rather threaten you with the Ombudsman than assist you. I would like to Warn all the people out there to think twice before taking out insurance at Standard Bank
