Insurance claims never withoout a Hassle
I recently reported a water pipe burst in the roof of my house. I had to have a emergency plumber fix the burst pipe immediately by putting a clamp in place as a temporary fix. The plumber identified a sub standard Geyser installation where the Drip tray was forced at an angle by putting pipes under the drip tray, the airlock valves not being present, and normal pipes bent at an angle to try and provide the same effect and being of great risk to me and the insurance. The plumber provided the photo's, a quote and a risk document of findings. After following up with the insurance, I was told that they will just cover the pipes burst and needed to be replaced and we have to accept the risk in a future claim. I was told that the none standard installation had to be reported a long time ago, and that the cannot honour any issues raised by a sub standard installation not reported in time. After escalating this, the answer was exactly the same. \You should have identified and reported this earlier. What the Hell I ask you?? Who has to make sure a claim is of good standard and right?? The repairs needed to be done to correct the situation and risk is Under R3000.00 rand claimable
