Inconvenienced by Standard bank

Yesterday afternoon while paying for petrol, my transaction was declined. When contacting the bank I was referred to the FICA help desk who confirmed my account was frozen due to outstanding FICA. I was surprised as no notification was received from Standard Bank. I was assured that after a hour I would have access to my account. The consultant could not issue me with a reference number as there was a system issue (as usual) but gave me her name (Amy) & personal number. Amy confirmed that my last FICA doc's were in 2001 - strange after purchasing a home in 2007 and car in 2011. Guess it's my fault the doc's were not scanned by Standard Bank's employees at the time.

I sat at the garage for more than an hour & still could not access my account. I had to negotiate with the manager to leave my wallet & watch in order to go home and get cash. The inconvenience of having to be at the garage for more than 2hrs then having to drive home to scramble the cash & drive back to pay while missing my evening lecture due to Standard Bank's lack of communication.

Great service for a prestige customer of 14 years & to date have not heard or met my Prestige Banker. Maybe I should switch?
