Impossible to get ownership papers from Standard Bank when selling a fully paid for vehicle

In 2001 I financed a vehicle through Stannic, the vehicle finance department of Standard Bank. I am now selling the vehicle and am finding it impossible to get the necessary paperwork from Standard Bank.

I initially thought that the vehicle had been financed through Nedbank. Within three days of an email query, Nedbank had told me that the vehicle was financed through Stannic. When contacting Standard Bank, I was told by two people at the contact centre that 'there is no record' - end of story. With Nedbank's assistance and advice, I got a Report 164 from the traffic department confirming that Stannic was the registered finance company. Luyanda Nonkelela at Standard Bank vehicle finance agreed to locate the papers after receipt of the 164 report on 3 March. Subsequent mails and phone calls are ignored, as is a complaint logged on the Standard Bank website. I am still without any response from Standard Bank and no papers. As a result the pending sale has fallen through. I am now in a position that I have a vehicle that I can not sell due to Standard Banks total incompetence and disregard. My advice - stay away from any dealings with this institution. In years to come when you require assistance, there will 'be no record'.
