IMPOSSIBLE TO CANCEL CREDIT CARD

I have been trying to close a credit card but this seems to be an impossible task. I have been on the phone for more that 5 hours ... made 18 calls ... even went to the Gezina branch and then they tried to phone and ended up on hold just like me. The branch tried to be so helpful and also relayed their frustration with this process. The card is paid up .. but you have to cancel ucounts first .. and they do not answer ... there is also credit life .. they did also did not answer when the branch phoned. After another call of 2 hours 18 minutes credit life answer .. they can not cancel because i need to speed to another department because there is another policy linked to the credit life .. and so it goes on and and on .. You simply can not cancel anything - not by phone and not even in the branch.
