I just want to pay back what I owe

I have an outstanding balance of R13k+ with the bank dating back to 2016. I have been recently trying to contact them regarding a way to settle this amount, be it an arrangement or otherwise. When I say recently I mean for the past two years. When I call Standard Bank collections they tell me the account is sitting with their attorneys but when I call the attorneys they tell me the matter was sent back to the bank. How does one pay back their debt in this country?
