How long does it take to close an account.

Sometime in March this year i paid up and closed my Standard Bank Prestige banking Cheque and Credit Card. End of june i by accident transfered funds to the account wich forced it open again. After 100's of emails i got an email claiming the accounts was now closed. 27/10/2015 i got a call from standard bank regarding arrears on service fees. When i called this morning they cannot close the account and need to escalate it. Thats why i closed my account in the first place because Standard bank south africa got no service to customers. What must i do to get this stupid account closed. Please dont tell me to go to a branch because im just gonna wait again for hours to fill in the same forms and just to find the accounts havent been closed
