HOW DOES STD BANK CANCEL MY INSURANCE WITHOUT MY NOTIFICATION
My experience and story is long which I don't want to bore most people with a lot of details. I have a STD bank Vehicle that I am currently paying off and have about 4 instalments left until fully paid. I had a accident about a month ago and wanted to claim as I tried to avoid a dog and went into a wall. When I called the bank to do my claim as the bank took out my insurance with Hollard and my debit orders were going thought my bank as well as I was doing manual payments to the bank. To my surprise when I called the bank to do the claim they said to me that the insurance was cancelled in January 2019. So this was a shock to me as I haven't been receiving statements since last month but had a fair knowledge of what was still outstanding on my vehicle. I asked the bank who cancelled my insurance and on what basis. I asked them for any correspondence with regard to the cancellation, being in a letter/email of a telephone call to me. I requested this as all calls are recorded by the bank. I was told then they cannot give me this information but after speaking to 9 people and lots of emails back and forth, one person told me that she will check with Hollard and revert to me. After 4 days I got hold of her again and she said to me the cancellation was done by one of Std Bank employees but this cannot be given to me as this is confidential. I then said but I am the policy holder why Hollard cannot give this info. She then said to me that I should maybe try and contact Hollard. Hollard said to me the policy was cancelled but because Standard bank is the client this info cannot be given to me. So although I am the policy holder and have been paying my monthly premiums I cannot get this info who cancelled my policy and why. I have also lost out completely as I cannot claim for my car. I am left with 3 or 4 payments and my car is fully paid. I also went as far as saying that if this was a error by the bank I don't mind paying the 6 months payment to the insurance company. Its now over a month and no one from complaints department to legal to customer care can give me an indication what is happening with my claim. All team leaders and managers are silent as they don't have any word to say the bank had slipped up. I have supporting emails as reference and back up and the only way to resolve is going the Legal way . Highly disappointed with the bank , wish this doesn't happen to anyone but I just want people out there to know that this sort of thing happens and everyone turns a blind eye.
