Horrible Student Loans Process

I am currently studying at UCT and have been banking with Standard Bank (always in good standing) for 15+ years. I also turned to them for a loan to finance my studies.

While applications for my 1st and 2nd years of study were approved (albeit after weeks of waiting), I have now been struggling for months to take out a further loan to finance the current academic year.

1) Application was initially denied due to 'insufficient funds'. This is nonsense. Between my wife and I we have plenty capacity to afford the extra monthly installment. Proof of all this was submitted, but STD Bank made no apparent effort to review the documents properly.

2) Next, the loan was denied because the 'same academic year can not be financed more than once'. Fair enough, BUT I'm not repeating years. As agreed with UCT, I'm splitting every academic year in 2 so that I may also work part-time. My results are OK and I'm in good academic standing. This is clear from the transcripts provided, but a nightmare to try and explain to an anonymous email address or through the current application process.

I'm seriously considering closing all my accounts with Standard Bank and moving somewhere friendlier.
