Honouring Fee
They've come up with a new 'honouring fee'. Seems like daylight ******* to me. Im actually considering changing my bank. If you do not have enough money in your card or for your debit order, standard bank will cover it and charge you an honouring fee instead of declining it. I was short of R3.50 on a transaction and didn’t even know because it did not decline. Standbank covered the R3.50 and took R200 when money was deposited in my account. When a complaint was made, all they said was that you need to monitor your account. So what is the use of an 'overdraft' option. People are given a choice of whether they want to apply for overdraft in case of going over budget. But with the honouring fee, they don't even notify people and you dont have a choice neither can you stop it. It just seems like a money making scheme.

If there is insufficient funds, the transaction should decline.
I would rather bare the R8.50 cost for declining, rather than a R200 honouring fee.
