Honouring Fee ****
I am a new customer to standard bank and i recently checked my bank statement with 3 charges amounting to R50 each under honouring fee. I always transact when there is money in my account, so i dont understand why i am being charged for something to be honoured when i never request a transaction when i have no funds.

Thank you for reaching out to us.
An honoring fee is charged when a transaction is processed despite there being insufficient funds in your account. This usually applies to transactions that had not yet been banked by the merchant at the time.
The bank covers the shortfall to ensure the transaction is not declined, and the fee reflects that service.
We recommend reviewing your statement for any transactions that may have been banked late while there were insufficient funds available.
Please also note that service fees charged to your account are deducted from your available balance, including any latest and available funds.
Kindest regards,
Standard Bank Hello Peter Team
