Honouring fee
Hello Peter

I went through my statement this week and I was surprised when I was charged an honouring fee of R130 of which I did not understand what it was for. I then wrote an email to information @standard to ask what it was for and one of the agents explained that it is charged to an account with debits not provided for. But I don't remember not having enough credit for my debits this month, so I checked my statement thoroughly.

I had found that there was a debit from pick n pay on the 23/01/2016 of R400 that had to be returned due to insufficient funds. But I never went to pick n pay on the 23rd, and according to my knowledge I cant go to a shop swipe my card and be approved whereas there is insufficient funds, it will just decline. So I checked how this R400 came about and found that I had spent it at pick n pay on the 8th of January.

So I do not understand how I can spend money on the 8th when I know I have cash and be debited 2 weeks later on the 23rd when chances are I got nothing. I expect every transaction to reflect on the same day, isn't it how its supposed to be like. If it was a debit order I would understand, but still I did not authorise the bank for this.
