Honoring fee ****

Was charged 13 honoring fees for two debit orders that where honored. They claim it was for honored card payments on a debit card. Anyone knows if a debit card is even R1 short, the transaction will decline. Went through three people including business manager and no one will help me.

Dear Warren,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

An honoring fee is charged when a transaction is processed despite there being insufficient funds in your account.

This usually applies to transactions that had not yet been banked by the merchant at the time of purchase.

The bank covers the shortfall to ensure the transaction is not declined, and the fee reflects that service.

Please also note that service fees charged to your account are deducted from your available balance, including any latest and available funds.
We recommend reviewing your statement for any transactions that may have been banked late while there were insufficient funds available.

 Kindest regards,

Ja, this is the same generic response I got from everyone.
In the last 13 years of banking with you, this is the first time I was charged so vigorously like this.
So can I go tap my card while I have a zero balance? And will the bank honor it? Can I try and report back?
