Honorary fees

I was recently charged an honouring fee of over R1000 by Standard Bank, and I find this absolutely unacceptable. What frustrates me the most is that the issue wasn’t caused by me—the transaction was made, and the funds were reserved in my account at the time of purchase. However, because the merchant only collected the funds days later, I was hit with an honouring fee.

This makes no sense. If the funds were already reserved, why should I be penalized when the delay is on the merchant’s side? I've reported the issue, and like many other clients, received only a generic response from the bank.

It feels like Standard Bank has no intention of resolving this or putting systems in place to protect its customers. Instead, they continue to profit from our losses. It’s incredibly disappointing to see a bank treat its clients this way.
