Home Loan Application Decline
My fiance and I co-app**** for a 30 year home loan at Standard Bank via a bond originator about a month ago. The loan amount needed was R1 145 000. We earn a gross income of about R35 000 with monthly expenses no more than R11 000 on an average month.
He has a good credit score and I have no accounts or credit cards myself - which I know does not count in my favour.
We were told by our originator that we were declined as there was bad conduct found on an old Stb bank account which he had closed down years ago. We fortunately had a letter of settlement which we then sent her to arbitrate the matter with the bank. Still we were only granted 90%!

We then re-app**** rather using his father and myself on the application forms. The application got as far as vaulation if the property. Then only did they find something to show that we could not afford the house at all. We arbitrated the matter once again - we were declined with 0%. His father is a principal, with a good credit score and few real expenses each month, and also a standard bank customer. He earns way more than my fiance.
I cannot understand how we cannot seem to come right. There is more to this story than I am allowed to say
