Home Insurance *******

On 3 Feb 2018 we were away from home for the night. When I got home after a great storm that night I noticed a hole in the ceiling and a beam jutting through. I called Std Bank on Monday 5 Feb and lodged a claim. An assessor was sent out and submitted a report to Std Bank. I got a call the n ft Day telling me the claim was rejected. There was no storm damage and that the beam broke and came through the ceiling because the previous contractor who repaired the geyser that burst did not do a proper job and the geyser bracket broke. I was told that Std Bank will inform the contractor to repair the damages as there is a 1 year warranty on their work. To date the beam is still protruding through the ceiling and everyday pieces of the ceiling is breaking down. I have two little children and a wife who at anytime may be hurt or ****ed if the geyser falls through or the beam fall through. I wonder how Dtd Bank will respond if the worst had to happe. It seems that the contractor who came out to assess what I thought was storm damage also misled Std Bank on his report as he stayed that the water damage was caused by the leaking geyser and not rain water. I am very disappointed with their service and response knowing well that I pay insurance for such damages. It's so easy for Std Bank to reject a claim yet they don't even do an quality assurance on work done by the contractors they appoint to repair damages on claims made. One of these days I may find myself in boiling water if that geyser falls yet I have logged a complaint will only be assisted by 22 Feb for what is a danger to me and my family. What a failure to for a Bank whose motto is "Moving Forward". So disappointing while I wait for assistance for so long.
