Gross Negligence and Incompetence

In April last year I requested to close my personal credit card. On the 25th of April I paid the amount owing as shown on my statement and called card cancellations to assist in closing the account. They informed me that it would take a few days to get a proper settlement amount as there could still be costs incurred. They then informed me that the settlement amount was R110.40 which I duly paid on the 4th of May. They then informed me that the account was closed. A few months passed and I got very threatening a lawyers letter demanding I pay an outstanding amount. I called card division and they assured me it was an error on their part and they would close the account immediately. A month later my Corporate Credit Card for a Trust account that I am a director of was closed!!! How they even got access to this without written approval is beyond me. I tried dealing with it over the phone but to no avail, I was pushed from pillar to post because personal credit cards and corporate credit cards are dealt with by different departments!! After spending hours at Standard Bank in Sandton, a kind gentleman offered to try and sort it out. It took him 3 days but he managed to sort it out and the corporate card was re-opened and I was assured that the personal card was closed for once and for all. Or so I thought, today I again received a threatening sms telling me my furniture will be attached if I don't pay the R356.01 owing for bank fees on the card!! I am absolutely at my wits end, as I cannot comprehend the incompetence employed by Standard Bank and they don't even have the decency to warn you. Because the account is "Closed" I don't get statements and can no longer even view it on internet banking. I dare Standard Bank to sort this out........
