Frustrated and dumbfounded

I write this review to express my frustration with Standard bank. I closed my account with standard bank in 2017 and was told by one of their consultants in Jeppe street that they closed it. To my surprise, I went to Standard bank branch in Calton centre on the 28th of July 2020 to open a new account and I was told my account was never closed and it is owing R1500. I was told to go to Hillbrow branch and I met Nontokozo Mpofu and she told me she can't help me instead I should wait for one week for a response. I waited for over a week as promised and did not receive any call, as a result I ended up calling STD bank head office and I was given a reference number ***) as proof that my case was closed. I went to Hillbrow branch again and I was told there is nothing they can do to help me, I must pay the money.

Now my question is, ''How do I pay for an account I closed a long time ago? Is that how STD bank makes money by making blunders and expect clients to pay? If they realized that my account was owing, why didn't they call me in 2017? They waited for money to accumulate so that they can make money out it. I am very much disappointed with STD bank's lack of professionalism. I have heard many people complaining about STD bank but I am experiencing this disaster first hand. This bank is so pathetic!!!
