***** on my account

On the 27th of Jan I received an SMS from Standard Bank stating "(more than my salary think 4 zeros) was withdrawn from your account". I called the ***** line immediately and they confirmed that a cheque was cashed in my name. They told me to email the ***** department ********** I did this and received confirmation of receipt.

Now by yesterday (30 Jan) I did not receive a single call or mail from them and emailed them back. They only rep**** with "Loss control is dealing with the matter". I went to the bank directly and the lady tried to get hold of the people at the ***** department, to no avail. This morning I sent another mail and got "Loss control is dealing with the matter" again.

Now for some facts:
* I do not own a chequebook.
* I am really security aware, I don't do cellphone banking (I know the security flaws in Android) and I leave my internet banking card at home at all times.
* I try to check for card scanning equipment.
* The money ****** is more than my salary. I could barely pay my rent, but now I have other costs that need to be deducted.

As I see it, I trusted SB with my money and they were negligent on their side. They allowed such a big amount to be withdrawn without my consent. This means they can investigate all they want as long as they pay me back all the money they OWE me instantly. At this moment they seems to ignore my mails and I have still not received and email or call.

I don't know what to do anymore. It feels hopeless as the ***** people don't reply and the people at the bank refers me to the ***** people.

I have laid a complain with the Ombudsman but till thus far I have received no contract from Standard bank. This money needs to be in my account ASAP.

Hi.

Someone has contacted me. They said they are going to get the cheque from the branch in question and get back to me today.

I hope to see the money you stole back in my account before the weekend.

I will update here!.

So it seems I need an affidavit. You guys allowed for money to be ****** from my account. Why can't you get an affidavit and pay back the money you allowed to be ****** from me?.

I do not have time for an affidavit, I do have time for a payment to be made into my account.

P.S the woman I talked to Linda or Laura, laughed at me, she also stopped talking to me.

This has been resolved as a simple mistake on the Standard Bank side. The money has been paid back into my account.
