***** department needs help

Last year December I went abroad on holiday. As advised, I notified Standard Bank that I would be out of the country, which countries I would be in and which dates.

While I was away - Standard Bank allowed the mice to play. I returned to South Africa to discover that Standard Bank had allowed a number of **********, online South African transactions on my account - until my balance was in overdraft. I set my notifications to email, before I went on holiday and I did not receive a single email notifying me of any transactions while abroad. When I called the ***** department I got asked ludricrous questions like: "Are you sure you didn't take an Uber ride in South Africa (while I was in Malaysia?) for R1200 on such and such date?" No. I'm sure I didn't interrupt my vacation to take an Uber ride in SA.

Fast forward four months - bank account finally sorted out. No apologies. No compensation. No explanations.

I purchase a pizza online. Guess what?! Standard Bank blocks my card for *****! When they knew I was abroad they let my account go into overdraft and waited for me to notify them of the *****. This time, after a small NORMAL (all the other purchases were out of the ordinary) purchase they block my card?

How does this make sense?

Standard Bank causes inconvenient circumstances for their clients and don't really seem to care how much time they waste. Their "security check" is ridiculous. Questions like: "how long have you had your Cell C account?" When I have an MTN account and I have never been with Cell C in my life. Then I'm told "sorry you didn't pass the security check, you need to waste an hour and a half queuing at a branch to unblock your card." This, after waiting for an hour for them to pick up the phone in the first place.

Basically, Standard Bank ****s on its clients.

Best regards,
Standard Bank must be playing some type of messed up joke with me. Now they block my card EVERY time I order pizza online.
Here's some news Standard Bank: get your ***** department in line. This is mindblowing that you would allow suspicious transactions until the account goes into overdraft, but your ***** department goes into a panic every time I order pizza.
Maybe teach your ***** department that pizza is not the enemy - people who empty our bank accounts while we are away on holiday (when Standard Bank is supposed to be safeguarding our funds, since they have been notified of the fact that the account holder will be abroad) are the enemy.

Oh, by the way "Zeenath Hassen" tried to collect further details via email. - Zeenath: no one is going to give you their banking details over email. Especially not when you are at a bank that sat on their hands while your account was cleared out - most likely by a Standard Bank employee who was aware that I would be abroad on holiday and therefore circumvented all the transaction notifications.
