***** Case
On the 23rd June my debit card was swallowed at Lynwood Ridge auto bank - I immediately tried to phone std banks 0800number but my call did not go through. I immediately drove to The Grove which is 5 mins away to stop my card. The teller had my accounts open on her screen and she said I must not worry my card had been stopped and issued me with a new card.

The following day when I went onto internet banking I noticed that 3 amounts totalling R2500 had been withdrawn from my savings account.

Today after more than a month someone from standard bank has phoned me regarding this incident after many calls to the ***** dept by myself, to offer to pay me 50 % back because it had taken 15mins for the card to be stopped.

My arguments are:

How come neither myself or the consultant saw the withdrawal at the time on my acc when my card was stopped
My withdrawal limit is R2000 per day
No SMS to alert me of any withdrawal.

I feel it is STANDARD BANKS responsibility to ensure the ATM's are safe. My card was swallowed by the machine.
I will definately be closing my three bank accounts at Standard Bank after 30 years with them.
