FOR MY CONVENIENCE, STANDARD BANK? I DON'T THINK SO!

I don’t know if it is just me, but I am extremely upset with Standard Bank. I received an SMS stating that for my “convenience” my personal loan debit order will be processed on the 14th of December to give me time to enjoy my NEXT family holiday….!!! For “my convenience”…. Well this is not convenient for me AT ALL!

Even though I do get paid earlier this month, my Personal Loan does not get paid out of my salary, but a different amount that will only be deposited into my bank account on the 27th….

I phoned the number on the SMS I received, but were advised that if the debit order is rejected, they will debit my account again on the actual debit order date, and good old Standard Bank will not charge rejection fees; how lucky am I !!! This does not solve my problem Standard Bank, because the debit will go through, but I will be out of pocket from the 14th to the 27th of December and how am I going to “enjoy my NEXT family holiday” without my money???

I was then referred to the Complaints Department. Again I was told that if the debit order is rejected, they will debit my account on the actual debit order date. I can however, if I wish, phone customer services after the debit order is deducted and advise them to reverse it….. By the way, they can’t do a stop order, and uplift it after the 14th to enable the debit order to be deducted on the actual date that it is supposed to!

Now I ask you, is this convenient for me???!!!! I have to phone THEM to reverse the amount back into my account so that they can deduct the debit order on the actual debit order date.

My question is, did I not sign an authority form stating the date that I would like my debit order to be deducted. Who gives them the right to change this date??? Why is Standard Bank penalising me because they are worried their other customers might overspend and not pay their accounts???? I have never with the grace of God missed a payment ever!!! How much interest are they earning by deducting payments almost 2 weeks in advance???? Where are my rights as a customer in all of this????

Whoever at Standard Bank thought this was a great idea must rethink their actions, I am sure I am not the only one that has a problem with this.

For my convenience…, what a load of nonsense!!!!!
