First Bond - House of Horrors
I wanted to wait to write something because of how angry I was at what had happened and wanted my review to be fair .
I (Thanks to Standard Bank) am a New Home Owner. I am a single professional woman who has relocated to a new City and Standard bank blessed me by approving my first home loan. Thank you for this, Its been a true blessing.
My Review does not revolve around this though, the short version of what happened was I was charged nearly R4000 in Occupational Rent because Standard Bank wanted to force me to open a Cheque account with them.
They offered me a 0.2% reduction in my interest (Like equates to R100 a month? Not worth the time or effort to do this) to open and use a cheque account with them, to which I declined shortly after I started my application.
My bond was due to be registered on the 26th of February, 2 days Before I was supposed to move in. Standard Bank On the 22nd of Feb put the breaks on my registration because I would not take their offer... Now I rep**** Immediately and said I was not taking it (as i said verbally to them before) and to please issue a PROCEED. They knew I was in a hurry to make sure it was finalized and they used that to pressure me into other products.
They waited till the 6th of March (after MANY e-mails declining their Concession & Telephonic confirmation). This was 2 weeks of unnecessary delays when they have a 3 days turn around time MAX.
Why did it take them 2 weeks to issue a PROCEED? They should have done it the same say I declined which was the 22nd of Feb.
Of course, I wont see a cent of what this cost me again, but be warned, Standard Bank will make this process slow, tedious and costly if you not prepared to take their additional services.
