FICA F#ck up
On 5 Feb 2015 I have received notice that I have to update my FICA Details at the nearest Standard Bank branch. I had to provide my Barcode ID document and a recent Utilities bill. As this was during the Postal Services strike, I had to take time off from work to get one. I was at the Boulders (in Midrand) on 6thFeb and after waiting in a queue for more than an hour, I was eventually helped.

When I tried to access my account on 16 March, my account was frozen and the balance was R0.00!!.

After 2 days, 5 calls to the service desk and 2 calls to the Standard Bank FICA service desk, I am still unable to access my account via Internet - the only medium available to me for banking. The SBSA FICA service desk confirmed that my FICA details were indeed registered on the 6th Feb. Yet, Standard Bank still chose to freeze my account stating that my FICA details were incorrect. ***!!!???

I have had several apologies from Service Desk staff, but these came so easily with no effort to sort out my predicament. Apologies to me means squat. Sort out my problem which was due SBSA's negligence. I will be closing my account.
