False notification of deposited funds
I received an sms from Standard Bank last night at 22h56 stating that R1300 had been deposited into my account from sender X ref number ******7490. This was a payment I was expecting from a buyer in Jhb who unfortunately also banks at Standard Bank.
I was about to dispatch the item they purchased this morning - and I thought I'd just check that the money was indeed in my account.
On logging into my account this morning I discovered that the funds were not in my account. I called Standard bank enquiries and they said they could not see any reference to the funds in question!
After keeping me on hold for another 5 minutes they said they could see the sms message was in fact sent out by Standard Bank at the time specified above. They also said they had logged the query with the technical dept. and would get back to me.
This is totally unacceptable - and makes me question the validity of all communications I receive from this hopeless bank. If you can't trust or rely on Standard Bank sms notifications - then what can you trust.
Another excellent reason why so many people are closing their Standard Bank accounts and moving to Capitec and other more efficient and trustworthy banks.
Standard Bank moving backwards.
