Failure to change otp number/ method

standard bank cannot change the number for your otp or the method for your otp. I have moved over seas and do not have access to the cellphone number anymore. I have been emailing them for over 2 weeks. They have quite simply stopped replying, the numbers they gave me to call do not exist.

Now I know I know that nothing is ever the banks problem I mean how dare I travel over seas and why didn’t I inform the bank before I left. I did but because I hadn’t moved yet I didn’t have a new number so that was pointless, I was also advised that it it would be super easy to change the method of otp I must just get there and call with the new number which I have tried.

Why not just change it to email. I have tried but this seems like a stretch for standard bank as this cannot be done either.

The problem is that standard bank does not have onsite support. Every time I email them the response comes back at 1am and from a different consultant.

This tells me that the support is most likely not even done on the African continent. When standard bank says they are moving forward this is true. They have already begun to move their employment beyond Africa. Imagine that, a country where there are people crying for jobs with abject poverty all around and standard bank has moved a massive portion or has outsourced a massive ***** of its employment to another country. I can fully understand the business aspects of this even respect them but this kind of thing is completely against what South Africa is trying to achieve and given the context of the current times I would say that this fact could cost standard bank some customers. I mean if foreign nationals are having their shops burnt down what will happen people discover that standard bank is outsourcing to potentially another continent.

Standard bank South Africa’s most forward moving bank. Maybe moving to another continent soon.
