EXTREME INCOMPETENCE

Before we emigrated to New Zealand in September 2019, I had a Power of Attorney (POA) drafted for my mother to manage my affairs. Myself and my mother with the POA in hand, visited the Meyerton Branch and advised them that I am emigrating. Due to SARS requirements I could not yet close my SBSA accounts but advised the branch that I intend on closing them within a couple of months, but would be abroad at that point in time. The time has now come for me to close my SBSA accounts but SBSA REFUSE to help me. The constant one-liner feedback I receive from every consultant I deal with is that I have to visit my nearest SBSA branch. The more I explain that I am abroad and cannot visit the branch, the more confused the consultants get and then simply ignore my further correspondence sending me from pillar to post. Furthermore, no one can give me a contact to email at the branch, I even requested my mother and a friend in SA to phone the call centre to get the details but SBSA have to date not provided the info. If we can’t get the assistance from within SA, you can understand why I refuse to phone from abroad wasting thousands of rands on telephone calls dealing with *********** consultants who cannot think past the script they have in front of them. I am appalled at the level of service, or rather lack thereof, all the while my accounts are being charged with monthly service fees. I have been requested to email the following addresses which I did but no resolution to date: • *** • *** • *** • *** • *** • *** • *** • *** • NonRe******
