On 25 July I transferred the bulk of my salary payment to my wife's Nedbank account as I usually do. A week later on Friday she told me the money still was not reflecting.
I immediately phoned the helpline, and was fairly shocked that the transaction could not be traced and a query request would have to be logged which would take up to 12 days to resolve. It seems that I am not the only one with very meagre levels of information regarding the transaction.
Later on Friday I was contacted and told I would need to provide proof that the funds had not received the intended account. This still baffles me, I cannot see how this could form part of any compliant process to verify an EFT/EDI transaction.
We did, however, supply a partial transaction history from the date of transfer until Friday. I am not sure what would have happened if the account had not been ours, I am sure nobody else is going to give a statement printout to me to give to my bank.
Yesterday I had no feedback. When I enquired this morning, I was told that the statement information given only showed debits. The very first line is my wife's own salary credit.
I am very disappointed with Standard bank regarding this for several reasons: 1 - It was left to me to determine the transaction had not gone through. Surely there are checks and balances. This was reported a week after the transaction was done. 2 - Standard bank is requesting proof of non-payment or transaction failure from me. There have to be lines of communication with Nedbank - in fact I would expect that failed transactions would be reported on in any event. What real use is a copy of a statement, other than more information to be leaked and used for ****s and phishing. 3 - Nobody responded yesterday with a request for more information, I had to prompt this morning.
