eft payments deducted from bank balance but not paid to recepients and not returned to my account either

Two eft payments and one instant money payment were made using internet and cellphone banking. The money went out of my account, I received all three sms's showing the money leaving my account and reducing my bank balance. However, the three recepients of these transactions did not receive that money. This money did not come back to my account either. I called and they advised that the transactions had failed due to a technical error and that they would refund me 24 hours later but 3 days later no refund has been made into my account. When I call to follow up today they tell me that according to them the transactions did not take place at all, these are the same people that 3 days ago confirmed that the money did go out of my account but that it just failed to follow through to its intended recepients.

I want my money back because it went out of my balance, how can you be telling me that the transactions did not happen at all when the money was deducted from my bank balance and never returned or never received by the people it was sent to. How can you say the transactions did not take place when I got sms notifications showing the deductions?

This is appauling to say the least
