Don't get a Travel Wallet from Standard Bank!

My wife bought a travel wallet from Standard Bank in the belief that this would make her holiday in Europe easier. It was ****** on the train in Athens before she could even use it. She immediately reported it to the travel police and the bank as required and she was told that everything was ok. But she was then left without money as there is no immediate replacement of the money (R50 000) and she was left high and dry. until I could get funds to her. On her return to SA she was told that all the money had all been taken from the wallet. How this could happen is a mystery as the ***** would require the pin code which he/she did not have. That happened in June and Standard Bank now refuses to refund the full amount and just does not respond to any queries. The poor bank clerk at our local branch has a file full of emails that are just ignored and he is as exasperated as we are. If you ever think of getting a travel wallet from Std Bank - don't. You are far better off using a credit or debit card. And to think that you actually pay for this service.!

Well, it's more than 10 days since Standard Bank said that they are committed to providing the best service and matter of urgency and all that and guess what: absolutely nothing has been done. Except having to rehash the story over and over again to unapologetic and uninterested drones. All that has happened is that they said that we managed miraculously to transfer the money to another travel wallet! These guys have absolutely no idea what is going on. They are all at sea. Clueless. It seems that they are at the hands of sophisticated ********** and they can't cope with it. Whatever you do, don't get a travel wallet! They still owe us about R20 000 and I don't think we are going to get any joy out of them. So it's off to the courts we have to go. What a waste of time and money. Be warned!
