DON'T EVER TRUST STANDARD BANK WITH YOUR MONEY. YOU WILL PAY TRIPLE THE AGREED AMOUNT.

When Covid hit in 2020, we were forced to put our car finance on a payment holiday to ensure the vehicle is safe until we can start paying it again. Fast forward a few months, we get a call saying that the account is about R14 000 in arrears and was about to be repossessed. I tried to fight this because, during all this time, not one single person contacted us to say that the payment holiday wasn't approved. Mind you, the company that was about to repossess the vehicle informed us that Standard Bank has been doing this to thousands of other families as well. This should be enough of a warning to never, ever trust Standard Bank with your money. We were told we had 48 hours to come up with the outstanding amount or to make another payment arrangement with Standard Bank. Of course, we immediately got in contact, and an agreement was set up, and we signed a legal document stating that we will be paying R1000 extra on the monthly payment. We have been paying this extra amount for more than a year and a half now but were informed a month ago that the car is still in arrears, and we need to pay R4000 a month now, or the car will be repossessed. This was never part of any agreement, and the account should have been out of arrears months ago. The first payment of R4000 was made on 25 March 2023, and we just got another message saying that our car is in arrears and that we need to make payment immediately. So my question is, the amount that was in arrears, which was pure Negligence from Standard Bank, should have been paid up long ago, but we keep paying more and keep getting threats. This is all starting to feel very *****ulent. Can someone please get in contact with us to explain this?

Ps, we are eagerly waiting for the day that we can close this account and cut all ties with Standard Bank. Never in my life have I seen such poor treatment from a bank
