Don't take your bond with Standard Bank

We app**** for our homeloan through a mortgage originator last year. To our surprise we had a loan granted less than 24hrs after it was submitted. The shortest time that the originators had ever heard of due to good credit ratings. At the time, we knew that the house needed major renovations before we moved in. We registered the bond for an extra R500,000 to cover the future renovations. Upon transfer, we started with our renovations. Total cost of that was R400,000 which we paid for in cash. When we approached the bank almost a year later to readvance the extra R500,000 we registered in order to continue with the renovations, they declined - saying that the bond was not 1 year old. It's crazy that we paid the extra for the registration, money that THEY are sitting with for this time, and w have not accessed the funds. The application went in 6 weeks prior to the bond being 1 year old. I find it completely ridiculous that they overlook the customers who qualify for huge bonds and good credit ratings. I've had enough of Standard Bank, the little interaction I do have with them. I have told my husband that this is the last dealings we have with them and he needs to move his accounts.
