Does Standard Bank card division divulge my contact details?

I was surprised to receive a phone call from a broker in Hong Kong trying to sell me shares. Somehow he knew my name, phone number and email address. When I enquired how he obtained this information he said the credit card company (Mastercard) sells this information to those who are prepared to pay for it. Not believing this story I sent an email to Standard Bank’s phishing department (***) requesting clarity on this. I have heard nothing from them thus far.
