Dissatisfaction with conduct of Std Bank Ltd
Dear "Hello Peter" I wish to draw your attention to my nasty experience in a STD Bank Ltd. I have been a loyal member of Std Bank for over 40 years. I have a cheque account and other accounts with Standard Bank. This is what happened recently: I normally check my balances on Auto Plus machine just to make sure if there are no defaults. In the last few months, my cheque account was showing "Unavailable" when I check my balances. As this "unavailable" status went on and on, I went inside the bank in Bryanston Shopping center, STD Bank to check why. To their surprise as well, they decided to check is from inside and they discovered that my account is overdrawn and there is a "lock out status". I was upset to hear the conditions of the "lock out status" as it was explained to me. I was alleged that I am in this status because my account has been inactive for three months, which is not true. If it was I wouldn't have a transaction run on the 30th of Jan 2016. If my balance was showing " negative balance" balance when I checked on the Auto Plus, several times, I would have addressed my overdraft on time. No one in STD Bank can claim that they had a decency to call me and make me aware of my overdrawn account and ask me to address it immediately. Now I am extremely disturbed and very upset that now I am told to withdraw my left balance and Std is closing my account since it has been handed over. It was hardly three months when I took the trouble to go inside the bank to address my concern of the Auto Plus "unavailable" status. I went through many visits trying to address the "lock out" status since I'm now told to close account and re-open it after six months. I refuse to do that since I do not accept that they took this step, after exhausting the right avenues. Std bank treatment has truly annoyed me as I found myself begging them to reinstate the existing account without a "lock out" status. I can prove that they they took this unwarranted conclusion way before three months. All I want to achieve is: keep my cheque account active without lock out status which was unfairly imposed on me. Like all other customers, the bank should call and warn of any default on my account , before they radically make this inconveniencing decision. Please help as I have made arrangements for more deposits to be made on this account.
