Dispute on a closed account

I had a loan with standard bank which I settled in October 2014 and was provided with a paid up letter. To my surprise when I recently app**** for vehicle finance I was declined due to a dispute which was never communicated to me at all but the r advised that my account was updated. According to the new law once account has been fully paid it should be updated but clearly this is not the case.I am waiting for this query yo be resolved.
