************** against mentally challenged people
Today I had the most embarrassing experience at the Hillcrest Branch of Standard Bank. I tried to open a simple bank account for the 40 year old mentally challenged son of my domestic worker in order to receive a SASSA grant. Every excuse was thrown at me and it was obvious that Standard Bank are unwilling to offer accounts where they see no real profit. Despite me trying to explain the situation, Mr Pillay, the manager, insisted that because the disabled person was unable to fully understand why the account was being opened, the bank was not prepared to do it. Mr Pillay eventually instructed his mother, her disabled son and myself to leave his branch. I was obliged to go downstairs to Nedbank where I was treated with the utmost courtesy and the account was opened in a very professional manner without any problem. I have been with Standard Bank most of my adult life, I have a lot of investments with their intuitions and to witness this type discriminatory behaviour is shocking. I will be closing all accounts and I will no longer wish participate in any future business dealings with them.

They would not have said "We greatly appreciate your continued support", because I am not continuing my support.
I am a pensioner, I have all the time in the world, I want a satisfactory reply to my complaint.
