Disclose PIN for security??

On the last few calls to the Std Bank Customer Care Centre to enquire for my Mom's current account, I have been asked to enter my card number as well as my customer selected pin for that card??

As a previous customer of Standard Bank, I remember being told, on numerous occassions by bank staff to NEVER disclose my PIN number to anyone. Why now must I disclose it, especially as I am not at an ATM. with the pace of technology these days, the number, if I were to enter it, I am undoubtedly sure would be able to be read in plain text by the helpdesk operator.

Should the helpdesk operator want to use the details I provide they could easily create a duplicate card and clean out my card via an ATM, especially as they have my PIN.

I was not born yesterday Standard Bank, and bank ***** is very real. WAKE UP and smell the coffee. change your call centre message and operation or you are going to lose more customers.
