Definitely the worst bank in SA, STAY AWAY

Several years ago I was retrenched and got into financial difficulty. My loan at standard bank was handed over to Stupel&Berman attorneys. Once I got back on my feet I made an arrangement with them to pay a reduced settlement in full to settle the account. On 9/12/2013 I received a letter confirming that I have settled the amount in full and that my credit record will be annotated as such. Today I attempted to get pre-approval for a loan to purchase a house. Imagine my surprise when my application was rejected (even though my credit raring is 633!), and I was informed that it was due to standard bank that blacklisted me for this account! I contacted one of their numbers and spoke to Myron Niemand. He made it clear to me that, even though the mistake was clearly on their side, I had to now contact their lawyers who handled their case in 2013, because I had to prove that I in fact did settle my account in full. He was extremely arrogant, and agitated me to such an extend that I had to put the phone down in his ear before I really lost it. So, 5 years and 1 month after I settled my account in full with this pathetic institution, I still get to deal with their total and utter incompetence. I am so glad I left them and opened an account at FNB. standard bank was, is and shall always be a pathetic wannabe bank.
