Declining Car finance citing debt review

Email that was sent to Standard Bank - I am writing to address an issue concerning Standard Bank's recent decision to decline my motor vehicle application. On 6th April 2024, I visited Hyde Park Toyota to discuss financing options for a Toyota Cross. To my surprise, Toyota informed me that while three banks had approved my application, Standard Bank had rejected it, citing that I was under debt review. This allegation is not only false but deeply troubling, as I have never undergone any debt review process, nor do I have any outstanding debts that would warrant such a status. This unfounded claim has led to an embarrassing situation where I was questioned by Toyota regarding my supposed debt review status.

Given the gravity of this situation, I demand that Standard Bank provide me with evidence or documentation supporting their assertion that I am under debt review. It is imperative that I understand the basis for this claim, as it has not only impacted my credit application but also cast doubt on my financial integrity. Moreover, as a professional working in the finance department of a prominent corporation, this false allegation by Standard Bank could have severe repercussions on my employment.

The erroneous statement regarding my debt review status not only undermines my confidence in Standard Bank's evaluation process but also calls into question the accuracy of your records.I expect Standard Bank to promptly investigate this matter and provide me with a satisfactory explanation and resolution. I urge you to reevaluate my application, taking into account the accurate information regarding my financial standing.

I am eager to proceed with my motor vehicle purchase and request a swift resolution to this issue. Your immediate attention to this matter is essential. Thank you for your prompt response and resolution. Should Standard Bank fail to provide evidence, I require a written apology from Standard Bank to be disseminated to all relevant parties. Please be advised that all my rights remain reserved. Attached is a copy of the Standard Bank letter dated 5th April 2024. They are investigating.

Yours sincerely,
