Debt review Department is the worst ever

We have finally paid off our account with Std Bank. Payment was made on the 3rd July 2025. When asking for the balance we were given the outstanding balance to pay, as we are under debt review.

We paid exactly what the Std Bank consultant said. When it came to issuing us with the paid up letter, then all of a sudden we are told to pay more.

Now we have paid that amount, and now they want to refund us a whole R0.01. Bare in mind, that at the same time we are told that this account can incur more charges, yet we have done what we needed to do.

Is this just another delay tactic to catch people!!!!!! We are already passed the middle of the month, we were supposed to receive our paid up letter a week ago already. Now we will probably have to wait another week.

This was the message sent from Debt Rescue to you. We have not had any reply or assistance.

You are delaying the issuing of our Clearance Certificate.

Good day SBSA,
I refer to the email below and the letter received from your offices regarding the R0.01 credit refund due to the client.
Please find attached all the requested documentation to facilitate the refund.
This matter is concerning, as the final payment made was based on the exact settlement figure provided by your consultant. We are now unable to proceed with issuing the client’s clearance certificate due to this outstanding R0.01 — an amount so minimal that the associated bank charges would far exceed its value. The client is understandably frustrated and has questioned whether SBSA cannot simply write off the amount to conclude the matter.
We kindly request your urgent intervention to finalise this and issue the paid-up letter. It appears as though this delay is unnecessarily prolonging the process, potentially resulting in further charges, which is both unreasonable and unfair to the client.
Your swift assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,

Standard Bank
