Debit order dates not consistent, call center not efficient

The debit order date for my homeloan payment, that includes the debit order for my Standard Bank Insurance policy, is dated as the last day of the month, although it often only gets deducted from my account on the 1st of a month (whether the 30th/31st falls on a normal business day or not.

As 31 Dec fell on a Saturday I thus expected that the debit order order will only be deducted on the 1st business thereafter (as the day AFTER the non-business day will make a whole lot more logical sense as it will ensure that a much higher percentage of Standard Bank's total debit orders will be processed succesfully instead of doing it earlier?) - I was thus under the impression that I only had to transfer money to my account from which the debit order gets deducted after the 31st (especially since Sunday 1 Jan's New Year's Day public holiday got transferred to Monday 2 Jan), i.e. I didn't do it in time and thus the debit order bounced - leaving me with both a default on my credit record as well as leaving me uninsured for the next few days as the call center was closed due to the public holidays...

When I eventually got hold of a call center agent when they opened up again (after having to hold the line on my phone bill account!!), it seemed as if none of the employees knew which dept I had to speak to in order to discuss the above and get my insurance re-activated. I got put through to the same departments back and forth a few times until one of the ladies eventually agreed to get one of the "team leaders" to phone me back asap as the were "no managers on duty" and all of the "team leaders" were busy...

Not surprisingly, a couple of days down the line I'm still waiting for them to get back to me - which means that I'm still uninsured - very convenient from Standard Bank's perspective...
