Dark Age data policies - CSV format required

I would like to import transaction data from my business account into Pastel.

In order to do so, I need a CSV file dating back two years. Standard Bank call centre told me that they recently changed their policy and no longer give clients data in CSV format. They said they can only give me statements in PDF but would charge something like R75 or more per monthly statement (over 24 months thats a lot of money). In any case I can't import PDF's into Pastel.

I seriously think Standard Bank is living in the Dark Ages as there is a big movement worldwide to data openness - ultimately, the client should be able to easily access his or her own data in the format he chooses and to be limited to only 180 days in Internet banking is, in my opinion, totally unacceptable.

The cost of providing historical data is reducing daily given technological progress. Especially since banking data is text and numbers (no photos & videos) so actual data size is small.

Standard Bank's current approach is to limit its access and charge a bomb to give you your historical data in the format they choose. Standard Bank - you need a check up from the neck up - update your data policies!!!
