Damaged wall due to hailstorm November 2015
I claimed for damaged wall due to hailstorm related weather on the East Rand with Standard Bank Insurance. Assessor came to valuate. In December 2015 I received the results that my claim has been declined due to the material used on the wall not being SABS approved.

It should be known that I am a first time home buyer. That when I took out the insurance no assessor came to check what will and will not be covered due to whatever reason. I have been paying for my premiers and never missed a single payment in 2010.

The wall in question, I never built it. It came with the house when I moved in 2010. Its means the house itself is not SABS approved and its means I should sleep with one eye open since it means it can collapse anytime because I guess its also not SABS approved.

I can only accept the rejection letter only if all my premiers are paid back and me finding myself a new home insurance that is willing to come and check and let me know exactly what and what not will be covered on the insurance.

I am really disappointed with Standard Bank Insurance after all these years. I have never claimed for anything. Even minor things i.e. roofs leaks I fix them myself.
