Customer Service? A dream!!

Does Standard Bank really care about its appalling customer service? Does anybody at executive level even know about the endless stream of very unhappy customers who are fobbed off by unhelpful, and often rude, staff on the so-called Helpline? Do they know that managers are always ‘in meetings and cannot be disturbed’, so one never gets past the call centre. I lived and worked in South Africa for 30 years before relocating to the UK in 2001. I have had a Standard Bank current account since 1978. Since returning to the UK I have managed my account via Internet Banking. Suddenly, Standard Bank cancelled my card and locked me out of my account. They also changed the log-in method preventing me from logging in. Many weary telephone calls and emails to the complaint resolution centre have achieved nothing. I was told I must visit my branch to try to sort this out. I live in the UK, there is no branch in the UK. I tried sending a Power of Attorney to a friend who lives in SA, but the bank refused to accept it. What on earth am I supposed do do now? I have seen the typical response to other people on this site, and I am not hopeful of anything useful coming of this
